Ranma 1/2 is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1987 to 1996, and was collected into a total of 38 tankobon volumes by Shogakukan. Studio Deen adapted the manga into two anime series, Ranma ½ and Ranma ½ Nettohen, in 1989. Another anime adaptation produced by MAPPA premiered on October 6, 2024, and is streaming exclusively on Netflix. Viz Media publishes the manga series in English:
Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s three daughters and carry on the family’s martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranma’s bride doesn’t seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fights…and did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?
