Following their previous teaser, the Kagurabachi anime has unveiled another character visual and character trailer for Kunishige Rokuhira, voiced by Tomokazu Seki (Panda in Jujutsu Kaisen, Rob Lucci in One Piece, Gilgamesh in the Fate franchise). The character is the father of protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira.

Chihiro's father, who warmly watched over his son as he grew up. A master swordsmith with unparalleled skill, he is the only person capable of forging Enchanted Blades—katana of immense power. It's said that his creations single-handedly brought an end to the Seitei War. Three years ago, he lost his life during an attack by the Hishaku.

Tomokazu Seki's Comments on Being Cast as Kunishige Rokuhira:

To commemorate the character announcement, comments have arrived from Seki.

Q. What are your impressions of the character you voice, and what did you keep in mind while voicing them?

Kunishige Rokuhira is a legendary swordsmith, but at the same time, he is also a warmhearted father. I voiced the role with the aim of conveying the charm of both of those sides naturally. I would be happy if viewers could feel the bright and fun nature of his everyday humorous side, as well as the weight behind every single word in the scenes where he speaks of his convictions as a swordsmith.

Q. How did you feel when you were cast, and what are your thoughts on the anime?

I was truly happy when I got the role of Kunishige Rokuhira. Kagurabachi is a series loved by so many fans, and Kunishige is an important presence in the story. I'm doing my best to convey the manga's passion and the feelings of the characters in a way that only anime can.

Q. What were your thoughts when you first read the manga?

When I first read the manga, my impression was, “This is such a passionate series!” Not only does it have powerful action scenes, but emotions like resolve, loss, and revenge are also depicted with real depth, and I was drawn in immediately. It also has unique worldbuilding, making it the kind of series where you keep wanting to know what happens next.

Q. What is Kunishige's greatest charm?

I think Kunishige's charm lies in the strength with which he upholds his convictions, as well as his ability to love deeply. I’m also the type of person who throws myself completely into the things I love, so I may relate to him a little in that sense.

Q. How would you describe the appeal of the series in one phrase?

“A spirit passed down.”

The Kagurabachi anime will be produced by CyberAgent group company animation studio Cypic (Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, The Summer Hikaru Died). The anime boasts an all-star staff, including Director Tetsuya Takeuchi (Action Animation Director on Sword Art Online II, Battle Scene Storyboards/Episode Director/Animation Director on Heavenly Delusion) and Character Designer Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist, The Seven Deadly Sins). The anime is slated to premiere in April 2027.

Kagurabachi also announced a world tour that will feature a special screening and staff appearance. The locations include Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Japan Expo in Paris, AnimagiC in Mannheim, and Anime NYC 2026 in New York.

Kagurabachi is an action-dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since 2023 and has compiled four volumes. The anime adaptation is set to be released in April 2027. The plot is described:

Flames of resolve, kindled by hatred. Chihiro Rokuhira is a boy who aspires to become a swordsmith, and took daily training under his father Kunishige, a renowned swordsmith. Their days, once filled with laughter, are brutally torn apart by an attack from the mysterious sorcerer organization, the Hishaku.

What is stolen from them are the six Enchanted Blades—swords of immense power capable of shaping the fate of the nation—and the gentle, warm life they once shared. From that day on, everything changed. In a world engulfed in darkness, Chihiro takes up Enten, the seventh Enchanted Blade left behind by his father, and sets out on a blood-soaked path of revenge.
