Akane-banashi Anime Continues in January 2027 With Season 2
The anime adaptation of the Akane-banashi series is getting Season 2, which will premiere in January of 2027.
The announcement came alongside a new illustration by character designer Kii Tanaka:

The anime will have a special panel at the upcoming Anime Expo 2026 on July 4 at 10:00 am. Anna Nagase and Abby Trott will be present. The two voice Akane in Japanese and English, respectively.
The first season of the anime concluded today. Studio ZEXCS was in charge of the animation, and the staff included:

- Shingo Yamashita as Guriko Arakawa
The anime will adapt the Akane-banashi manga, written by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha's
Weekly Shonen Jump since 2022.
The official synopsis for the Akane-banashi anime is as follows:
Akane Osaki, captivated since childhood by the magical performances of her father, Shinta Arakawa, witnesses a shocking incident during his decisive performance for promotion to shin’uchi (master rank).
Six years later, now a high school student, she sets her sights on becoming a shin’uchi herself—pushing forward in the highly competitive world of rakugo.
