10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 TV Drama Announced
TV Tokyo has announced that 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 (40 made ni Shitai 10 no Koto) will be adapted into a live-action drama premiering on July 4.
The drama will star Kohei Shoji (Shinsengumi: With You I Bloom, Kamen Rider Gavy) as office worker Keishi Tanaka, with Shunsuke Kazama (Silent; Soredemo Ore wa, Tsuma to Shitai) in the role of his coworker Suzume Tojo.

In the role of directors are Chihiro Ikeda (Igarashi Fusai wa Giso Tanin) and Noriaki Kosuge, with Yo Saito handling the script and Erina Koyama (My Diary) composing the soundtrack.
While Shoji is still a relatively newcomer to the world of acting, in his comments for the show's website, he expresses a desire to learn as much as possible from his co-star and that he feels the character is a good fit for him. Tanaka, meanwhile, is a big fan of the original work and hopes to convey the charms of the story through his role, ensuring that viewers come to treasure Keishi and Shunsuke as much as he did reading the manga.
10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 is based on Mamita's original two-volume manga series, which ran in Libre Magazine Be x Boy between 2022 and 2024. It has over 750,000 copies in circulation and was in first place in the general division of the 2024 BL Awards. The series has been licensed for an English release by Seven Seas (who also publish several of Mamita's other works), and they describe the story as follows:
Suzume Tojo is just three months away from turning forty and realizes there’s so much he hasn’t done with his life! So, he makes a plan: create a private list of things he’s always wanted to do and check them off before turning the big four-oh. It’s a rather simple list, filled with goals that should be easy to accomplish, like a takoyaki party, enjoying a parfait out in a cafe, and spending his birthday with a lover. Except, that last one comes with a major problem—Tojo hasn’t had a lover in ten years! But when Keishi Tanaka, Tojo’s handsome junior at the company, discovers the secret list, he’s determined to help Tojo check off every single item—starting with the “lover” part! A fun, sexy BL romp between an assertive junior colleague and a senior past his prime!
This is the first of Mamita's works to be adapted into another medium, and in their comment, they discuss how they want this work to be something that their friends and family, who don't read BL, can talk about. They also share how much they love TV Tokyo's dramas and hope the team can create a work that even those unfamiliar with BL can enjoy.
