The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 revealed the first trailer. Kinema Citrus is returning to animate. The premiere date has been set for July 2025.

MADKID is returning with the opening theme song "Resolution," and Chiai Fujikawa is performing the ending "Eternally Once." MADKID's "Resolution" is featured in the trailer. The staff includes:

  • Series Composition: Keigo Koyanagi
  • Character Design: Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu, Masahiro Suwa
  • Art Director: Junichi Higashi
  • Music: Kevin Penkin, Alfredo Sirica, Natalie Jeffreys

The same studio animated the adaptation so far and was joined by DR Movie for the second season.

The anime is based on a light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Minami Seira. The light novel has been serialized under Media Factory’s MF Book imprint since 2012. It was originally published as a web novel. A manga adaptation by Kyu Aiya is currently ongoing in the Comic Flapper magazine.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime (in both sub and dub versions) and describes the plot as:
Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation
