The Quintessential Quintuplets Sequel Novel Gets Anime Adaptation

The Quintessential Quintuplets series is getting new anime projects, as announced today with a new teaser video and visual. 5-toubun no Hanayome: [Shunkashuutou] (The Quintessential Quintuplets [Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter]) sequel novel by Hajime Asano is getting a TV anime adaptation. Another OVA, covering the chapters from the original manga not included in the TV anime, is also in the works.

The information was announced during "The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO” held today, Saturday, May 2.

The 5-toubun no Hanayome: [Shunkashuutou] light novel follows the lives of the Nakano sisters during their third year. It is written by Hajime Asano, but Negi Haruba, the creator of the series, is supervising it. It began serialization in 2025. So far, it hasn't been licensed in English.

This will be the third special for the anime series. The first one, released in 2023, was animated by studio SHAFT and titled The Quintessential Quintuplets∽, while the second covered the "Honeymoon" arc and was released in 2024. It was titled The Quintessential Quintuplets * and animated by Bibury Animation Studios. Both are streaming on Crunchyroll.

The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired in 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021, and also animated the "final" movie, which premiered in 2022. Seven Arcs animated the original anime that was bundled with The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy, the Abyss, and the Magic Academy (5-toubun no Princess: Gensou to Shinen to Mahou Gakuin) game, released last year in Japan.
