The Story So Far
For readers who might not be familiar with the series, this is what's happened so far. After her boyfriend breaks up with her, college student Akane logs into the online RPG they used to play together to unwind. There, she meets Yamada, a quiet pro gamer who seems focused on nothing but the game. When Akane pretends Yamada is her new boyfriend at a gaming convention to save face with her ex, they start spending more time together, both online and in person. As Akane gets to know Yamada, her feelings for him grow, though she wonders if he could ever feel the same way. Guild meet-ups, a tense first meeting with a difficult member named Runa, a misunderstanding at Yamada's school festival, and Yamada taking care of Akane when she gets sick all help her realize her feelings go beyond friendship. With encouragement from her friend Momo and guild leader Eita, Akane decides to confess her feelings. Things get complicated when a new guild member also likes Yamada, but after a night out with friends, Akane and Yamada finally become a couple.
Neighbour Woes in Volume 7
The seventh volume of My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 made me realise how single I am, making me wish for a relationship like theirs. Watching Akane and Yamada's relationship grow felt sweet and natural. The main focus this time around is about Akane having trouble sleeping because her gamer neighbor is too loud, so Yamada, being a thoughtful boyfriend, offers to swap apartments with her. He doesn't stop there. He also tries to solve the problem through the game itself, which I thought was a clever and fun twist. It's a situation that can actually happen in real life too, where gaming connections can be both big and small, and I liked how the manga showed that.
I liked how they handled the noisy neighbor. Instead of confronting them directly, they used the game to work things out. It was fun and cute to watch Yamada try to calm the neighbor down and make Akane happy. After all, nobody wants their girlfriend to lose sleep! Their relationship has really grown, and you can see how close they are now. When they talk, they actually understand each other, even using gaming terms. It was adorable to see how much they grow, both emotionally and physically. The author even depicts them becoming more intimate in a sweet way without being too explicit. You can really feel how much they care for each other, and it's clear their relationship is developing. Readers can look forward to Chapter 69, hehe.
Next Steps
The apartment swap also makes Akane and Yamada think about whether they're ready to take their relationship further. With more surprises coming up in both their real and gaming lives, the next big step seems to be meeting a parent. Without giving too much away, there's a sweet, funny moment with Yamada's mom that shows a side of their relationship fans will love. She's genuinely adorable, and the bond she shares with Akane is heartwarming. It's a nice reminder that Yamada has a loving and supportive parent, and it makes you excited to see where their relationship goes next.
In Closing
This seventh volume was a real treat. Akane and Yamada’s relationship keeps growing in a sweet, natural way, and I liked how they solved the noisy neighbor problem through their hobby. It made the storyline stand out from the crowd. The characters still face everyday struggles and awkward moments, but it’s clear their relationships are getting stronger. I really enjoyed this volume, even more than the earlier ones.
