LEGO ONE PIECE Animated Special Reveals Teaser Trailer
Netflix has announced the LEGO® ONE PIECE animated special, a two-part retelling of the events of the two seasons of the live-action series. The entire Straw Hat crew of the live-action series is lending their voices for this unique adventure, which will actually be narrated from the point of view of the boisterous storyteller, Usopp. Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Tom Hyndman described the idea:
“We wanted to make something that would ease new viewers into the massive world of ONE PIECE while also giving longtime fans a new, fun perspective to see the iconic stories of the first two seasons.
It was incredible to have them [the crew] on board. It allowed us to really go wild during the records because we didn’t have to take extra time to have them find the character — they are the character. This freedom led to some extremely fun and funny improvised moments that really added to the episodes.
The gang was over the moon about being made into LEGO® characters, Hyndman says. There was a lot of giddy giggling during every [recording session]."
The two-part multi-brick LEGO® ONE PIECE animated special will be released on September 29, exclusively on Netflix.
The project is produced in partnership with the LEGO® Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha, and the Vancouver-based animation studio Atomic Cartoons. Tom Hyndman serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, while Chelsea Ker serves as director. The voice cast includes:
- Iñaki Godoy as “Luffy”
- Emily Rudd as “Nami”
- Mackenyu as “Zoro”
- Jacob Romero as “Usopp”
- Taz Skylar as “Sanji”
- Charithra Chandran as “Miss Wednesday and Nefertari Vivi”
- Mikaela Hoover as “Tony Tony Chopper”
- Katey Sagal as “Dr. Kureha”
- Jeff Ward as “Buggy the Clown”
- Callum Kerr as “Captain Smoker.”
ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda also executive produces alongside Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Lars Danielsen for LEGO® and Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios.
ONE PIECE is a manga series by Eiichiro Oda. It began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997, followed by an anime adaptation by Toei Animation in 1999. The second season of the ONE PIECE live-action series is expected to be released in March 2026. Netflix is also working on a reboot anime with WIT Studio.
