We Tasted the Zenless Zone Zero and Butchies Menu in London: Review

#feature #events #sidebar July 24, 2025

It was pouring down with rain on July 19, 2025, in London; however, that didn't stop Zenless Zone Zero players, aka Proxies, from visiting the Butchies and enjoying the collaboration between this game and the restaurant. It was a sight to behold, fans queuing come rain and wind, just to get a taste of the sizzling ZZZ burger and obtain the exclusive merch and goodies that came with it.

The fan event, exclusively run on July 19-20, fuelled fans' passion with the intricate art, delicious food, and cozy atmosphere. However, worry not, Proxies, if you were unable to attend the exclusive fan event held at the London Bridge Butchies, but still want to try the new burger and receive some exclusive merch, the exciting collaboration will be held at select London Butchies branches until August 15, 2025.

The main objective of this collaboration was for the fans to have an in-game experience within the real world, bringing the 2D into the 3D, with delicious food, cute art, and cosplayers abound. An event that we thought was executed well. Although Butchies is a smaller fast food restaurant, they really provided an immersive journey into the world of Zenless Zone Zero, creating an experience that has brought Proxies across the world together (with similar collaborations taking place in Japan, Singapore, and elsewhere).

As individuals who have always wanted to know what in-game food tastes like from games such as Zenless Zone Zero or Genshin Impact (games known for their delicious-looking food and intricate food culture), this was an amazing experience to share a moment of tasty joy outside of the game. Seeing Proxies come together, discussing their similar interests and passion for games over a juicy burger and crunchy fries was a moment of joy, as was seeing the Proxies enjoying their time together.

When we first arrived at the store, we were delighted to see various stickers and posters displaying art of Anby, Burnice, and other iconic ZZZ characters in retro diner outfits; a fitting theme for the event. Outside the counter was a tall poster displaying both the menu and the tasks to complete to gain different ZZZ merchandise.

To receive a postcard, poster, and in-game redemption code, we ordered the combo meal, which featured crispy buttermilk chicken, a slightly spicy gochuang mayo, crisp pickles, and fluffy buns. The chicken was delightful and juicy; however, Proxies who craved a spicier meal may have left disappointed. The fries were crispy, a beautiful golden yellow, with just the right amount of salt. To complement the meal, we had a thick, creamy Oreo milkshake, a perfect sweet treat to end a delicious lunch.

The food was cooked quickly, with an effective ordering/picking up system to help prevent crowds and ensure Proxies could spend their time enjoying the experience of the event. Butchies was extremely accommodating to different dietary and taste requests and, happily removing items to suit their customers' needs, something that we were grateful for as it ensured that everyone enjoyed the same experience.

For the sticker set, we posted and shared our love of the event to Instagram and X, using the photo back drop to create draw dropping photos (go check out #ButchiesZZZ and #OperationYum). By showing our receipt, we tested our luck in the truest Gacha system of all: a spinning wheel. Almost as exhilarating as a character pulls in ZZZ. The game brought out each of our inner Gambler, giving us a chance to win another poster, keychain, beach towel, stickers, and a postcard. Just be careful, though, if you're unlucky, you may get a duplicate!

Merch we received: a sticker sheet, a poster and postcard (twice!), and a keyring. Postcard frame not included

Butchies Brings ZZZ to Life: Overall Impressions

Butchies and Zenless Zone Zero did a good job allowing us to enjoy in-game food in the real world, and the chance to win exclusive merchandise after completing tasks reminiscent of the daily mission in ZZZ.

When showing appreciation, we can't forget to thank the cosplayers who perfectly replicated each character and their mannerisms, creating a perfect 2.5D experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in Zenless Zone Zero. Thank you to f.ukuro and theemberwolf for enhancing the experience and allowing us to post these photos. It was amazing to meet you and share your passion for Zenless Zone Zero and cosplay!

And, most important of all, thank you, Butchies, for the delicious food! Butchies is a fast food restaurant that specialises in buttermilk fried chicken. They started as a street food vendor in London. Butchies gained popularity over time and opened a physical store, and then expanded to multiple locations in London. They are known for their freshly made sandwiches and a wide range of different combinations using halal-certified suppliers.

We loved seeing this collaboration first-hand; being able to experience the in-game activities and food while sharing our passion with other Proxies who love the game as much as we do, and even more, is a memory we will never forget. The staff gave excellent service making sure everyone had an exciting and pleasant experience, with an amazingly quick turn over with food. The fast food restaurant was small, but the staff made it work for everyone. We do wish a bit more care had been taken for the rainy weather, as some Proxies (Ellyn) did find the merch got damaged upon their departure into rainy London. Still, the experience was worth it!
