Though I Am an Inept Villainess Reveals New Trailer
Though I Am an Inept Villainess has released a new trailer, giving us a preview into the anime's dramatic imperial court setting. The trailer also revealed four new cast members.
- Makoto Furukawa as Ei Gyoumei
- Yuichiro Umehara as Shin-u
- Hana Hishikawa as Lee Lee
- Farahnaz Nikray as Kou Tousetsu
Mitsue Yamazaki is directing the Though I Am an Inept Villainess anime at studio Doga Kobo, with Yoshiko Nakamura in charge of series composition and Ai Kikuchi for character designs. The series will premiere in July 2026.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court is a light novel written Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by Kana Yuki. Ichijinsha also publishes the manga adaptation by Ei Otsuji in the Comic Zero-Sum magazine. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel series in English and describes the plot:
In the Kingdom of Ei, five clans put forth their maidens as imperial consorts—but only one will be crowned empress. Just when frail and beautiful “court butterfly” Kou Reirin seems poised to marry the crown prince, jealous “court rat” Shu Keigetsu steals her body!
