The Vermilion Mask Anime Announced

The Vermilion Mask anime adaptation has been announced at YTV’s industry panel at Anime Expo 2025. 100studio (The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei) is animating the series. The main staff includes:

• Director: Tetsuaki Watanabe (Blue Lock)
• Assistant Director: Gai Hazako
• Series Composition: Daisuke Ohigashi, also known as Daisuke Daito (Fate/strange Fake)
• Character Design: Hisashi Higashijima (Mashle: Magic and Muscles)
• Sound Director: Fumiyuki Goh (Kaiju No.8, Overlord)
• Music: Arisa Okehazama (Jujutsu Kaisen, The Apothecary Diaries)

To commemorate the announcement, special illustrations by the original creator Dr. Poro and manga artist Nabana Naba have been released along with comments.

I've been a huge fan of the original manga for a long time, and I was so determined to bring it to life as an anime myself that I persistently pitched the idea to 100studio—and thanks to their support, the project has become a reality. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved! The series has a unique and fascinating premise, unlike anything else—masks that grant their wearers special abilities—and the story constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. Each mask becomes the centerpiece of gripping drama, where richly compelling characters clash with their own motives, inner conflicts, and schemes. As a reader and fan myself, I've been following the series from the very beginning!

For the anime adaptation, we've worked closely with the original creators, Dr.poro and Nabana Naba, who have been directly involved in story development and scripting from the early stages. Hiroya Nakata, a producer from Yomiuri TV, also issued a statement:

I still vividly remember the thrill I felt when I first read the original manga―it was so exciting, I immediately reached out to Shonengahosha. I'm thrilled we can finally announce the anime adaptation!

Earlier today at Anime Expo 2025, attendees got an exclusive first look at the debut subtitled teaser for The Vermilion Mask during the YTV Group Industry Panel, held in Room 408AB. The panel also featured appearances from the Ascendance of a Bookworm production team, alongside special giveaways and programming announcements.

The Vermilion Mask manga has been serialized in Shonengahosha Young King OURs magazine since 2021. Dr. Poro writes the story while Nabana Naba provides the art. Currently, there are seven volumes out with the 8th scheduled to release on July 7 in Japan.
