The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 Reveals Trailer, Key Visual
The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 revealed a teaser trailer and a key visual ahead of the previously announced October 2026 release date. Studio ENGI is animating.
The anime was initially scheduled to premiere this July, but was delayed due to production issues.
In addition to the key visual and teaser trailer, The Detective Is Already Dead series also revealed a spring visual as part of the 5th-anniversary celebration. In addition to seasonal visuals, the series will get a voice drama, official TikTok account, theme song cover project, Nintendo Switch game, and "Siesta ASMR" project.
The anime is based on The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa mou, Shindeiru light novel, also known as TanMoshi) light novel serieswritten by Nigozyu and illustrated by Umibouzu. The light novels have been published under Media Factory's MF Bunko J imprint since 2019. The series has been adapted into a manga, published in the Comic Alive magazine.
Funimation licensed the series, which is now streaming on its successor, Crunchyroll. The latter described the plot:
After thwarting a hijacking with beautiful, silver-haired detective Siesta, Kimihiko leads a life of globe-trotting and crime-solving—until Siesta dies. A year later, a new case will open old wounds as it threads murder, conspiracy, and his dead partner!
