The Apothecary Diaries Reveals Season 2 Blu-ray Volume 4 Illustration
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 anime has released a special illustration for Blu-ray Volume 4, which was drawn by character designer Yukiko Nakatani. This is the last volume of the season. It features Jinshi, or Ka Zuigetsu, rather, in his armor, as well as Loulan and Maomao (with the hairpin). You can see the full illustration below:
The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series by author Natsu Hyuga and illustrator Toko Shino. It was adapted into to manga series: one by Itsuki Nanao (series composition) and Nekokurage (artist) in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan; and another by Minoji Kurata in Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X.
An anime adaptation was produced by Toho Animation Studio and OLM in 2023. The second season premiered in January 2025, while a sequel to the anime was also announced. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
