That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea has announced that the anime film will come exclusively to theatres via Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures on May 1, 2026, in the United States and Canada. The film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles as well as dubbed in English.

Studio 8bit is animating the movie under the direction of Yasuhito Kikuchi. The story will take place following the events of Season 3 of the anime series. Crunchyroll describes the plot:

After concluding the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his companions are invited by the Celestial Emperor Elmesia of the great elven nation – the Magi Dynasty Thalion – to visit her private resort island. As the group enjoys their brief vacation, a mysterious woman named Yura appears. A new incident unfolds against the backdrop of the boundless azure sea.

Crunchyroll also revealed that it will showcase an exclusive special 10-minute sneak peek for Tears of the Azure Sea. This will be held at the screening of the first film, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond, at the North American theatrical Anime Nights program on April 20, 2026.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, or TenSura for short, is a light novel written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The anime adaptation was released in 2018 and has a total of three seasons, multiple OVAs, and a movie. The second movie was recently released in Japan in February 2026. Meanwhile, the upcoming Season 4 is set to begin streaming on Crunchyroll on April 3, 2026.
