TenSura: Tears of the Azure Sea Movie Reveals Trailer Ahead of February 2026 Premiere
The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea movie revealed a key visual and the main trailer earlier this week. The theme song for the movie is "Utopia" by TRUE. The movie premieres on February 27, 2026.
Yasuhito Kikuchi is directing the movie with Ryoma Ebata as the character designer. Kikuchi is also writing the script with Toshizo Nemoto. Hitoshi Fujima is composing the music.

Crunchyroll, which licensed the movie, describes the plot as:
After concluding the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his companions are invited by the Celestial Emperor Hermesia of the great elven nation – the Magi Dynasty Salion – to visit her private resort island. As the group enjoys their brief vacation, a mysterious woman named Yura appears. A new incident unfolds against the backdrop of the boundless azure sea.
Studio 8bit is animating the new movie from the TenSura franchise. The movie will have a completely original new story, supervised by the original author, Fuse. This is the second movie in the series; the first was That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond, released in 2022.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is based on a Japanese light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The series also has an ongoing manga adaptation by Taiki Kawakami.
The TV anime adaptation by 8bit has three seasons, a spin-off anime titled The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which adapts one of the manga spin-off series, seasonal special episodes, and a three-episode Coleus’ Dream side-story OVA. The Soukai no Namida Hen movie was announced alongside a fourth season, but information about it hasn't been revealed yet.
The main TenSura anime adaptation follows the manga serialized in Kodansha's Monthly SHONEN SIRIUS, not the light novel. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
