Tatsuki Fujimoto's Short Stories Get Anime Project by Various Studios

The Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man collection will be adapted into an anime project, featuring six animation studios from Japan. Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 anime will be broadcast on Prime Video worldwide from November 8, 2025.

Fujimoto wrote the stories from the collection between the ages of 17 and 26. Shueisha published it in Japan in two volumes (October and November 2021). VIZ Media licensed it in English. The first volume, 17–21, includes "A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin' in the Schoolyard," "Sasaki Stopped a Bullet," "Love is Blind," and "Shikaku." The second volume, 22-26, also compiles four titles: "Mermaid Rhapsody," "Woke-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome," "Nayuta of the Prophecy," and "Sisters." The studios participating in the Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 anime are:

  • GRAPH77 (newly established studio under Avex Pictures' FLAGSHIP LINE subsidiary)

  • P.A.WORKS (Mayonaka Punch)

Fujimoto, known for his Chainsaw Man manga, commented on the upcoming anime:
I felt uneasy about whether it would be really okay to animate works created during my student days, and worried it might have become a piece that relied entirely on someone else's inspiration.
But, though I haven't seen them yet, I believe they've been turned into proper works because they were made by talented directors.
