The Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You anime revealed a teaser trailer, key visual, and July 2026 premiere date. Asahi Production is animating.
As previously announced, Takuya Sato and Seena Hoshiki will be voicing Sasaki and Yamada.
The anime will adapt the Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You manga by Jinushi. The series initially started as a webcomic on Twitter/X and was later picked up by Square Enix and serialized in Monthly Big Gangan magazine. Since 2022, six volumes have been released. Square Enix Manga & Books is publishing the Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You (Super no Ura de Yani Su Futari) series in English and describes the plot:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her!
