Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You manga is getting a TV anime adaptation, scheduled to air in 2026. Details on the staff and cast have not been revealed yet. The original author Jinushi drew an illustration to commemorate the announcement:

The series initially started as a webcomic on Twitter/X and was later picked up by Square Enix and serialized in Monthly Big Gangan magazine. Since 2022, six volumes have been released. Square Enix Manga & Books is publishing the Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You (Super no Ura de Yani Su Futari) series in English and describes the plot:

At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her!
