Sentenced to Be a Hero Season 2, Game Announced
Season 2 of the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime has officially been announced at today's AnimeJapan 2026 event. The first season of the anime concluded on Thursday. The teaser visual has been revealed.

The series is also getting a game, titled Sentenced to Be a Hero: Game of the Goddess. VIC GAME STUDIOS is developing. The teaser for it features Xylo and Teoritta:
Studio KAI animated the first season of the Sentenced to Be a Hero adaptation, which premiered this January. The main staff included:
- Director: Hiroyuki Takashima
- Assistant Director and Creature Designer: Yoshiki Nakakoji
- Series Composition: Kenta Ihara
- Character Design: Takeru Noda
- Music: Shunsuke Takizawa
The anime previously revealed a key visual and trailer featuring the main cast: Yohei Azakami and Mayu Iizuka, who will be voicing Xylo Forbartz and Teoritta. Shun Horie, Shizuka Ishigami, and Shunichi Toki are also a part of the cast as Dotta Luzulas, Patausche Kivia, and Venetim Leopool.
The anime will adapt the Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 web novel turned light novel written by Rocket Shokai and illustrated by MEPHISTO. The novel is serialized under Dengeki Bunko's Dengeki no Shinbungei imprint. A manga adaptation by Natsumi Inoue is currently ongoing in Dengeki Comic Regulus. Yen Press licensed the novels in English.
Kadokawa describes the plot:
"Hero" is the worst punishment in the world.
For those convicted of heinous crimes, they are sentenced to become a “Hero" and forced to enter the mandatory military service in the war against the Demon Lords. These convicts are not even allowed to die—if killed, they will be resurrected to fight another day.
Hero Xylo Forbartz, former head of the Order of the Holy Knights, leads a penal unit of deplorables fighting on the front lines. It’s in these direst of circumstances that he meets Teoritta, one of the world’s the strongest weapons.
"When every last enemy has been defeated, you are to shower me with praise and pat my head."
In order to survive and to take revenge on those who wronged him, he makes a pact with the goddess and launches headfirst into a maelstrom of war and intrigue.
