Rie Takahashi Returns From Hiatus Following Surgery
Voice actress Rie Takahashi is back from a hiatus following surgery on her vocal cords. In early April, Takahashi's agency, 81 Produce, revealed that the voice actress has been struggling with hoarseness caused by nodules on vocal cords for some time now and that, in consultation with medical professionals, it was decided that surgery is the best course of action.
Takahashi announced a month-long hiatus on April 8. In a new announcement on her official Twitter/X account, the voice actress revealed that the surgery was successful.
"I would like to thank everyone who sent me messages and letters on social media, those who were waiting for me, everyone on site who accepted the needs, my coworkers and other people in the industry who listened to my concerns, and everyone at my agency who was sympathetic and thought about me...!" she wrote.
Rie Takahashi is known for a number of popular roles, including Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko, Megumin in KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!, Emilia in Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World, Kaoru Kamiya in the new Rurouni Kenshin, Hu Tao in Genshin Impact, and more. She won the Best Female Newcomer at the 10th Seiyu Awards in 2016. Takahashi also sings and has released two EPs.
