Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend Movie Announced for 2026
The Rascal Does Not Dream anime is getting a new movie, titled The Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend, that will complete the adaptation of the original series. The movie premieres in Japan in 2026.
The new movie is a sequel to the Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus anime, which ended today. Yen Press describes the plot:
“I’m glad I met you.”
Faced with the truth about Miori and Touko Kirishima, Sakuta must make a choice. This will be his final case of Adolescence Syndrome!
Soichi Masui directed the Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus anime at studio CloverWorks, with Masahiro Yokotani on the series composition. Satomi Tamura was the character designer, and fox capture plan was in charge of the music.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai) is a Japanese light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi. The serialization began in April 2014 under the Dengeki Bunko light novel imprint and ended in 2024. The series has a manga adaptation by various artists.
The Rascal Does Not Dream anime began with a 13-episode TV anime adaptation by studio CloverWorks. The first season of the TV anime was followed by three sequel movies:
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid
Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus will focus on the so-called "College Arc" of the light novel series. Aniplex teases the plot as:

A heart-swaying adolescent fantasy...
The Rascal Does Not Dream series has gained new fans with each successive work, vividly depicting the unique emotions of adolescence and human drama that touches the heart. The high school boy has become a college student and encounters various problems and bizarre phenomena through meeting new people.
