Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht - Rising Unveils February 2026 Premiere Date, Trailer
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht - Rising movie revealed a February 2026 release date, new key visual, and trailer. The information was revealed during today's stream dedicated to 100 days of the EXEDRA game.
Studio SHAFT is animating the movie with Akiyuki Shinbo as the chief director, Yukihiro Miyamoto as the director. Junichiro Taniguchi is doing the character designs. The Walpurgisnacht - Rising movie was initially slated to debut in 2024, but was pushed to this winter to "improve quality." The key visual was drawn by Kazuki Kawata and supervised by Junichiro Taniguchi:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica, an original anime project created by the Magica Quartet (Akiyuki Shinbo, Ume Aoki, Gen Urobuchi, and producer Atsuhiro Iwakami), premiered in January 2011 as a TV anime. It ran until April of the same year for a total of 12 episodes (the broadcast of the final two episodes was delayed due to the Great East Japan Earthquake).
The series also spawned multiple manga series (adaptations and spin-offs), a novel by Nitroplus, a dedicated magazine, and video games. Two recap movies, Beginnings and Eternal, were released in October 2012. They were followed by a third movie, titled Rebellion, which premiered in October 2013 and featured a new story – a continuation of the TV anime. The movie is a prequel to Walpurgisnacht. All three of these movies are getting an Ultra HD Blu-ray release on January 29.
The two recap movies will also have a TV edition that will be broadcast every Sunday this October:

It’s worth noting that the Magia Record spin-off story spawned an anime adaptation (also by studio SHAFT) and a mobile game, Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra.
