The director Kim Byung-woo recently spoke about the adaptation, after BLACKPINK's Jisoo's character was shown with a different weapon than in Omniscient Reader novel (gun instead of a sword). He highlighted that some changes have been made to diversify the source material and that the movie adapts parts of the "vast universe."

Omniscient Reader (also known as Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint or ORV) manhwa series started as a web novel by the writer duo singNsong. It was serialized from 2018 to 2020 with a total of 551 chapters, including side stories and epilogues.

The series was published on Munpia in Korean, and later published in ebook and physical versions by Munpia and Naver. Some changes have been made in the novel edition without affecting the original web novel's plot. Yen Press' Ize Press licensed it in English wth the first volume scheduled for a July 22, 2025, release date.

The webtoon adaptation of the ebook version began serialization in 2020 on Naver Webtoon. It was adapted by Umi (REDICE STUDIO) and illustrated by the Sleepy-C artist group (part of 3D2S studio). LINE Webtoon is publishing the webtoon in English, with Ize Press publishing physical and digital volume editions.

The ORV manhwa is also getting an anime adaptation, announced at last year's Anime Expo. The studio hasn't been announced, but we do know that Crunchyroll will be streaming it.
