Lazarus Anime Reveals April 2025 Premiere With New Visual Featuring Main Cast

The upcoming Lazarus original anime revealed a new teaser visual, showing off the main cast. Studio MAPPA is animating the latest work by the famed director Shinichiro Watanabe. The premiere date has been set for April (TV Tokyo), with Adult Swim broadcasting it in its Toonami block in the US, although the premiere date for this has not been confirmed. The previously announced cast, in order of appearance on the visual, includes:

• Manaka Iwami as Eleina
• Maaya Uchida as Christine
• Mamoru Miyano as Axel
• Makoto Furukawa as Doug
• Yuma Uchida as Leland

The Lazarus cast also features Megumi Hayashibara as Hersch, Akio Otsuka as Abel, and Koichi Yamadera as Dr. Skinner.

In addition to Watanabe, who is the original creator and director, and action supervisor Chad Stahelski, the staff includes:

The plot is described as:
The year is 2052.

The world has entered an era of unprecedented peace and stability, largely due to Hapna, a drug developed by neuroscientist Dr. Skinner. Hapna spread throughout the world as a “miracle drug” with no side effects and freed mankind from pain. However, its developer, Skinner, suddenly disappear and no one knew where he had gone.
–Three years later, he reappears as a demon who leads the world to ruin.
Hapna was a trap, a drug that causes death after three years of use. “Thirty days left. If you can find my place by then, humanity will survive.” The only way to save the world is to use the only vaccine Skinner has.
Lazarus, a team of five agents gathered from around the world to fight Skinner’s plot. Can they save humanity? And what is Skinner’s true purpose?
