Kaiju No. 8: The Game Reveals August 31 Launch Date

Following the success of the manga-turned anime series Kaiju No. 8, the official Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is launching on August 31, 2025, on mobile and PC devices. The developers have revealed a new key visual and trailer with the latest in-game footage. There was also a Kaiju No. 8 Day special program with Masaya Fukunishi, voice of Kafka Hibino, that coincides with the main protagonist's birthday.

The special program also presented the high-level graphics and the polished battle scenes with original kaiju and cinematic cutscenes exclusive to the game. Viewers were also able to see brand new content that has never been seen before, including Ultimates and "core exposure" sequences. During the program, the new visual of the Defence Force members was released with Kaiju No. 8 at the forefront. The visual includes some of the game's original characters from CLOZER, led by Sagan Shinomiya.

With Kaiju No. 8: The Game being developed by three different production studios, Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G., the aim is to immerse players in a cinematic, kaiju-infested battlefield inspired by the manga written by Naoya Matsumoto’s that has over 18 million copies in circulation across 15 volumes.

The pre-registrations have surpassed 850,000 players, and fans have been able to unlock more in-game rewards and an exclusive 4-star character, Soshiro Hoshina. A new target of 1 million pre-registrations has been announced. Once this target has been hit, a new 5-star character will be available. Mina Ashiro was the reward for 500,000 pre-registrations.

As previously announced, the game will feature new original characters and stories revolving around the special unit CLOZER. This will include the character Chester Lochburn, a former member of the UK's defence force who once served as the captain of a special operations unit. His main role within CLOZER is a strategist who advises Sagan and keeps her from doing reckless things.

Suited a genius physicist and biologist responsible for all weapons development at CLOZER. Like any other physicist and biologist, Suited conducts cross-disciplinary research and development using kaiju. Developers say that Suited stands out as a new type of character, unlike any seen before in the Kaiju No. 8 universe.

There have been slight teasers for Sagan Shinomiya, who was first in the Defence Force Boot Camp in Yokohama. With her return, she now has a unit under her command, dedicated to dealing with the Kaiju Dimensional Gate.
