Earlier this year, fans from all over the world had the opportunity to watch the first two episodes of the third season of the anime through the  Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution movie, which also served as a recap of the "Shibuya Incident" arc.

The Jujutsu Kaisen anime premiered in the Fall 2020 anime season and ran for 24 episodes. It was followed by a prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, in 2021. The second season aired in 2023, covering the "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death" and "Shibuya Incident" arcs. The "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death" arc was also turned into a compilation movie, which was released in theatres.

The anime adapts manga by Gege Akutami, which was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018 to 2024. It was compiled into 30 volumes. VIZ Media licensed the series in English. A spin-off story, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, recently began serialization.

Crunchyroll streams the anime outside Japan and describes the plot as follows:

Yuji Itadori eats a cursed finger to save a classmate, and now Ryomen Sukuna, a powerfully evil sorcerer known as the King of Curses, lives in Itadori’s soul. Curses are supernatural terrors created from negative human emotions. This cursed energy can be used as a power source by jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits alike.
