Inherit the Winds Original TV Anime Announced at Aniplex Online Fest 2025

A new original TV anime, titled Inherit the Winds, has been announced at the Aniplex Online Fest. Live2D Creative Studio and Drive are in charge of the animation, and the staff includes:

Screenwriter: Yutaka Narui
Original Story Cooperation: Azuki Mashiba
Character Design: Fumi Ebina
Music: Shigeru Kishida

A comment from the screenwriter Narui was shared during the AOF stream. This is Narui's first time writing a script for a TV anime.

Nice to meet you, I'm the screenwriter Yutaka Narui.

When I heard from Aniplex that they wanted to create with me the 'definitive' version of the Shinsengumi story, at the time, I hadn't written a screenplay for a television anime before, but I immediately replied, 'I want to do it! No, let me be a part of it.'
And I thought that I would bring back Jinsuke Tachikawa, the main character of my plays with THEATER COMPANY CARAMELBOX.
A gentle man, a terrible swordsman, yet gifted with astonishing speed. With this man as the story's core, I set my mind to telling the story of the Shinsegumi from scratch.
To boldly show how Shouji Okita and the Shinsegumi warriors lived.

And so, a completely new story, different from plays by CARAMELBOX, was born.

The plot of the Inherit the Winds anime follows Jinsuke Tachikawa and the fleeting youth of Shinsengumi living in a turbulent era.
