Honkai: Star Rail Returns to Penacony in 3.8 Version Update

After the epic finale of Amphoreus, The Astral Express is set on their next adventure but first a stop at a previous destination, Penacony. Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.8, also known as "Memories are the Prelude to Dreams" is set to start soon and will last 8 weeks, featuring three phrases of event warps. Returning to the "Planet of Festivities," this version will feature new mysteries Trailblazers can follow alongside new 5-star character Constance "The Dahlia."

After the final battle of Amphoreus, The Astral Express moves back to Penacony where they they will be confronted by Constance "The Dahlia" and realize that the Trailblazers memories are incomplete and that some parts were stolen. In order to complete the final puzzle in the mystery of the "Planet of Festivities" players work alongside Constance to piece together the final and "true" conclusion of Penacony. The update is set to dive into Firefly's perspective, where Trailblazers need to work through her timeline from her first interactions with the crew to the battles she ended up in at the conclusion.

As mentioned, this update will last over eight weeks featuring three phrases of banners. First third includes Constance "The Dahlia," the new 5-star character who follows the Path of Nilility and excels alongside Break DMG style characters. While on the field she can release a "Gloomy Zone", within this zone Toughness Reduction caused by enemies can trigger "Super Break DMG" even with the enemies haven't had their weakness broken. She can also invite one of her teams to become her "Dance Partner", which adds an additional instance of "Super Break DMG" after one of the dancing duo attacks. Her ultimate helps enhance Toughness Reaction effectiveness by applying her "Dance Partner's type weakness to all enemies.

Alongside Constance will be the return of Firefly's warp event. This warp is set to last from when version 3.8 officially updates until January 7, 2026 as per Honkai: Star Rail's official X/Twitter Account. The second warp will then featuring returning 5-star characters, Fugue and Lingsha (warp period set to be January 7 until January 28, 2026). For the final stretch, from 28 January to the 2 February 2026, Aglaea and Sunday will re-run.

Besides the main storyline, there will be two new events that will last the full length of the update. First, "The Chrysos Awoo Championship" where the Trailblazer will take on the role of a chimera trainer, raising a little creature to form the most powerful team to win the Championship. The second event, "Remnants of Twilight", is a battle challenge style gamemode that will require a bit more strategic thought.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on PC, iOS, Android, Epic Games Store, and PS5. As we come into a new year, the game is set to dive into a new planet in the upcoming versions whilst keeping the story rich for both new and old players of the franchise.
