Hirayasumi Anime Announced, Co-Produced by Viz Media
VIZ Media, in partnership with Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, has announced the anime adaptation of Hirayasumi. The slice-of-life series, based on the manga by Keigo Shinzo, will be animated by Production +h. (Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction).
A live-action adaptation has also been announced, to be aired on NHK this fall. A release date for the anime has not been provided at this time.
Keigo Shinzo has drawn a celebratory illustration to announce the project.

Hirayasumi is written and illustrated by Keigo Shinzo, and has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits since April 2021. The series has been collected into eight volumes. Viz Media licenses the series in English, with five volumes currently available, and the sixth due to be released in August 2025.
The series has garnered critical acclaim in Japan and abroad, with the following awards and recognition:
- Grand Prize, 2021 Kagayake! Bros Comic Awards
- Grand Prize, 27th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize
- 3rd Place Nominee, Manga Taisho 2022
- Best Ongoing Comic, Lucca Comics & Games 2024 (Italy)
Viz Media describes the story as follows:
At 29 years old, carefree Hiroto Ikuta doesn't have a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a plan for the future—and he couldn't be happier. Hiroto's breezy attitude isn't easy for everyone to understand, though. In a world filled with anxiety, confusion, and grief, Hiroto and the people around him are all just doing their best to figure out this thing called life.
