The upcoming Goodbye, Lara original anime revealed a key visual and short trailer ahead of the 2026 premiere.

Kinema Citrus is animating the series, which is a retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid with a twist: the main character is a mermaid reborn in present-day Japan.
Takushi Koide is making his directorial debut with Goodbye, Lara (Sayonara Lara) anime. Koide was previously an assistant director for the 2018 Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight. Yuma Yumaguchi (DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION) is composing the music.
According to the official synopsis, Lara is a mermaid who died some 200 years ago by turning into bubbles after falling in love with a human prince. Now she has been resurrected in Lake Biwa, and she sets out to look for love once again.
